I just stumbled on this render of what a current gen Firebird could look like. I have to say, I love it.
And one without the firechicken as well. I like to think the would be the Esp rit
Instead of bringing Pontiac back GM could just offer a Firebird appearance package on the Camaro. The Camaro FB maybe.

Wow. That looks so much better than any of the New Age Camaros have looked.
And, yeah, I wish GM would/could find it in their business model to do some “one year only” special edition Pontiac-badge specials that would temporarily give us a Firebird or a warmed up G8 Holden again....

I am surprised GM hasn’t cashed in on some nostalgia special editions too . If they do it right, they could probably charge a buttload for them. Limited run (200-500 or so) , unique body/paint (maybe customized combos per the buyers preference) throw an LS7 in there and charge $80 k+.
There are enough nostalgic GM fanboys that would buy that, well probably 200-500 of them at least.

*Millennial dads will like this*

I don’t like it. It takes the “5th” gen firebird and squeezes it into a new shape. Much like GM did with the camaro

I’m a millennial Dad.

I’ve been saying they should resurrect Pontiac, which uses Cadillac scraps and older generation RWD platforms where the cost has been paid for . Kinda like how VW does with the Seat Exeo, which is basically a recycled Audi A4.

Nah, GM wouldn’t bring back the Firebird name on anything but a Pontiac. They would never try to repurpose a name with so much tradition and nostalgia wrapped up in it.

You’re ahead of the curve. Millenial dads shouldn’t like this until they’re 45. in around 7 to 22 years.

I wanted L incoln to do the same with the LSC.

Buick also needs a new grand national

That at least kinda got to the concept phase with the avista.

Gm need to scratch the design an start fresh I understand that a fire bird an a camaro look some what the same but in the end you can tell them both from apart but with the new design just looks like crap, looks like you took the Camaro an through a different bumper, badges an wheels on it looks stuipd.... Need to just with the older body an make it newer tech the C rown Vic has been doing it for years lol why can't we?

The good news is my kid is already 10. So with any luck he’ll be out of the house by the time in 40

Wheels are too damn big but I kinda like it. And I don’t even like firebirds in general.

still no T-tops :(

Pass. 2nd gen styling doesnt work on a car trying to mimic a 1st gen camaro.

That's one terrible looking front end! Looks like an Aurora, but not as clean. None of that is a good thing.

Maybe call it the Camaro Firebird Edition, and offer a "Heritage Appearance Package" at extra cost, to replace the bow ties with Pontiac emblems.

Needs a shaker to go with the bird on the hood .
And also a Super Pursuit Mode active aero kit option.

Has no one ever heard of the Trans Am Depot? http://transamworldwide.com/

Google firebird conversion. There’s a company that makes this car, it’s not just a rendering. They also make a gto. All done from a brand new ss Camaro. They look pretty good and are much more powerful than the standard s s Camaro

I still love that Lincoln mustangs render. Too bad it wouldn’t make sense anymore as Lincoln isn’t even using that grill now.

I have the last official years of firebirds a 96 trans am firebird and a 2002 firebird base model sports package and this idea is horrible and looks ugly. The Camaro continued a different body style for two generations so the body is completely Camaro and this is aftermarket bumpers with pontiac emblems. Please for the sake of the Camaro/firebird f body community dont sale or buy these customized Camaros. the firebird has to comeback with it’s own body now, period.

Wasn’t there a company in Florida that did Firebird conversions and actually added T-tops?
![]() 09/15/2019 at 19:37 |

Where have you people been? TransAm Depot got authorization from SCCA to use the Trans Am brand several years ago. (GM had to pay SCCA $50 a car to use the Trans Am name). Trans Am Depot also bought the rights to the Judge name from GM. You can order a new Trans Am built to order.
![]() 09/15/2019 at 19:37 |

Yeah, I’m sure someone does them. But they cost like $4000 though
The factory
T-top option was $1000
when GM offered them

With the ATS-V's LF4

Bring Pontiac back GM! You can do it, reduce the number of redundant SUVs and there’s plenty of money.

I really wish the people making these would get their generations straight.
The new Camaros are retro to the first-gene
ration Camaros... 67-69. Both Zeta and Alpha Camaros are both pointing to first-generation F-body, not second
.
Trying to make a new car that looks like it wants to be from the 60s... instead try to look like a different branded car from the mid to late 70s... is not a good look.
TransAm Worldwide’s GTO conversion is ridiculous looking too. The lines and angles just don’t work well.
And their TransAm show on cable is nearly unwatchable. all repetitive backstory and build-up, then two grown men, brothers who run the shops, acting like moron teenagers, and drag racing on public roads for bragging rights.

I like the concept, and I think Lincoln could actually use a bit of a shot in the arm to get some adrenaline pumping...
But well-optioned Mustang GT or Shelby GT350 is already beyond an average wage earner.
If they could somehow make it look like a convincing affordable alternative to the previous generation Aston Martins, Vanquish, Virage, and Vantage V8, before the DB10-styling took over... and differentiate the bodywork from just a re-badged Mustang
If they aren’t going to use the split grille, then at least give it a sleek version of the new corporate grille, different all-LED headlights, and a MKZ/Zephyr style tail, and sliding glass roof option.
If they could give it a choice of the two twin-turbo V6s, backed by a well-done automated-clutch gearbox...
And somehow get it to overlap the market space between the EcoBoost and GT mustangs as a starting price, not just all above $ 50K...
Name it the Mark IX, and market it correctly... I think it could work.
Make it the convertible version a folding hardtop with buttresses, like the new Ferrari 812GTS, and it might REALLY sell.

There are a couple of companies offering conversion kits.

Also a Millenial Dad here. And yes, I do kinda like it, lol. Then again, my dad has a love of all things Trans Am, so that’s what I grew up around. First car I learned to work on was a ' 76 Trans Am 455 in Firethorn Red.
